An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedImplementation note: A few days ago, I added an optional plugin using C++/gtkmm, which makes implementing the GUI probably much easier. So if you start to look into how to do this yourself, I suggest you should read how to do it in the C++ wrapper "gtkmm" instead of plain C/gtk.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI guess by "mileage" you mean a U.S.-specific tax thing where you must record the car's mileage and the respective occasions for which you have used the car? For people outside the U.S. (e.g. me - I'm German) the requirements for this feature are not at all clear, so maybe you must explain this further.

Also, the suggestion is surely a good one, but in the current code base this is a very hard task.

Concurrent multi-user support has been part of our long-term goals for a while now:
http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Roadmap#Database_and_QOFTime to update the status of this feature request…
Note it still says “long-term”, which currently means several years ahead of us.An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI'm not opposed to this suggestion, but I'd just like to add that it will require an almost complete rewrite of gnucash. Subsequently, this rewrite will probably happen in another programming language (C++, Python, Whatever). And this rewrite will probably take 12-18 person-months until it reaches feature parity for the main business features.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThis feature (time-tracking) is rather far away from what the current state of the software does offer. We would rather suggest this should be done by other existing software (e.g. GnoTime) instead of adding this into gnucash.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedBut what should happen if those two files contain account names that would clash? There sure needs to be a giantic new user interface to handle all potential clash situations, doesn't it?

The idea is well explained. The developers need to decide who’s going to work on this and when, but this idea will be considered in the near future.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI have no idea what this proposal should mean. You would have to clarify this suggested feature if you want the gnucash developers to comment on how well this might work.
(Also note that there seem to have been created some fake users to vote this proposal higher, which we will simply block and ignore.)
