At first I am sorry you misunderstood the data entry concept. but gnucash does not delete anything, But it normizes the transaction splits.

If someone enters a negative amount, the same amount is added to both column, resulting in an positive entry in the other column.

If you enter amounts in both columns the difference aka "saldo" is calculated and entered as a positive amount.

In your case "saldo" is 0 and disappears.

If we would implement your suggestion several other users would loose features, which they like.

But we can add a warning to the documentation. I am open for your suggestion. Which doc, section, and text?

What do you mean by "a version for Non-Profits"?
Are you talking about account templates?
The problem there is, they are country specific because every government has its own specific rules.
    If you run
    LANG=de_DE.utf8 gnucash
    in File->New you can choose
"Kontenrahmen SKR49 für Vereine, Stiftungen, gGmbHs".
That would be applicable for non profit organizations in Germany.

So here we rely on volunteers researching the rules required by their government, CPA associations, ...
and implementing them as template for Gnucash. Read about the details in https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Account_Hierarchy_Template.

    Awaiting your template!

No, we will definitely not rename it. You did not consider our chinese users.

But we could add it, if it were defined by ISO. The current list https://www.currency-iso.org/dam/downloads/lists/list_one.xml does not contain it. But I did not scan all updates.
    https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Currency_Maintenance contains more information.
If you would point us to the right ISO ammendment, we would consider to add it.

    [Edit:]
You can internally set the currency symbol to "CNH", but quotes will always be fetched for "CNY".

We are open to support all languages.
But as a community project we rely on contributors. So feel free to provide a spanish transltion for our website. See https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Translation#How_to_translate_the_website for the details.

Why do you not use the desktop app [https://www.gnucash.org] to do the reconciliation?

You could download the "real GnuCash"
    http://www.gnucash.org/download.phtml
syncronize your data and use GnuCashs reports.

Perhaps you should read the guide of the desktop application.
See http://www.gnucash.org/docs.phtml for available languages and formats.

That can you do by yourself:
    https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3#Key_Bindings

But I would not use Ctrl-H as it is already assigned to Help->Guide.

    > Ever since the online quotes support ended, update stock prices has become a tedious process. The user must go through the gui, find each stock and enter each price one at a time.

That was only a few days correct. Please read
    https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Why_doesn.27t_online_quoting_work.3F

    There is already
https://gnucash.uservoice.com/admin/forums/101223-feature-request/suggestions/4011596-provide-support-for-importing-historic-stock-quote but that is very complex.

So the remaining part is: Allow csv import of historical quotes.
    I will update the title.
