  2. I am using gnucash 4.2 ( installed via repository link ) on ubuntu 20.04.

This version was installed via repository in ubuntu 20.04. Today I came to know that gnucash 4.8 has been released. But I am unable to upgrade the same via terminal command " sudo apt upgrade". Then I downloaded gnucash 4.8 version with extension .tar.bz2. But again I am unable to install it. Please guide me, how to install it on ubuntu 20.04 64 bit. The upgrade through repositories is not working. Please check for the same.

  3. allow deletion of the corresponding double entry

If you delete a transaction you should have the option of deleting the corresponding double entry especially as gnu does not support multiple edit/delete.

As i had mistakes in an account and gnu doesn't support multiple edit i though it would better to delete an account and the transactions. But now I have a compunded the issue - all the double entries are now left in multiple places which i can't multiple select and delete - it's one by one (and by mouse not keyboard).

Without multiple edit or delete gnucash is a one way, perfect first time entry on…

  4. Reports changes crashes.

In version 4.4, when I change a report configuration and click OK or Apply, the program crashes. When re-opened the change is not there.

  6. add a cash deposit calculator

I've been using a small spreadsheet to add up cash on hand for depositing. It would be a great tool to add to gnucash. My spreadsheet consists of 6 lines: $50, $20, $10, $5, $1, coin. I enter the quantity of each and the spreadsheet provides a total. So for example, I have 17 $20 bills ($340), 16 $10 bills ($160), 19 $5 bills ($95), and 66 $1 bills ($66) = $662.

It could be expanded to include $100, or individual coin amounts .25, .10, .05, etc. (I just don't deal with change often).

  7. Sort by any column visible in the register - including reconciliation status

Like QuickBooks, it is often of use to view the register sorted by reconciliation status so that if checks have been written yet not yet cashed, I can get a one-to-one comparison (including running totals) with what the bank has. That way, all the still outstanding transactions yet to post at the bank (including very old ones that may need to be voided) show up at the bottom of the register, and the last reconciled transaction above it shows the correct current balance in the account.

  8. Add Google finance as a multiple source quote for automatically retrieving security prices

Google finance has the ability to retrieve multiple quotes at once. This should be added as a source. Alphavantage doesn't work for me.

  9. Please implement PSD2 standard for bank account synchronisation. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payment_Services_Directive

Target date: September 2019: all companies within the EU must comply with the national laws and regulations pertaining to directive (EU) 2015/2366 (PSD2)

    1. The PSD provides the legal framework within which all payment service providers must operate – not all companies.

    2. As https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payment_Services_Directive#Market_implementation explains:
PSD2 does not specify the actual machine-to-machine API standards and specification details to be used. The banks and other financial institutions had to agree upon such details to ensure interoperability…

So there is nothing we can do with this level of directives.

If you find technical specifications i.e. at https://www.berlin-group.org, you can ask on the mailing list of aqbanking.de, if they would implement it. They build the library which we use for online banking.

  10. Bring back the 2.6.21 interface

I recently tried upgrading to the lasted 3.x release and I find the interface unacceptable. Setting aside the preference for the 2.6.21 tabs, and appearance. The transaction entering in 3.6.x is horrible.

Specifically the way that predictive text input doesn't automatically handle typing over the auto-complete. The way it forces me to highlight and delete the auto-completed text and then fights me if my replacement is similar to another entry and tries to auto-complete to that entry. Not just frustrating, but unacceptably frustrating.

    I simply can't endorse the new interface. It's counter-productive. If I'm missing something, I'm happy to be…

Sorry, we can’t. The new UI is driven by the switch from Gtk2 to Gtk3; that’s driven by updating to the WebKit2 library for displaying reports; and that was forced on us by Fedora dropping support for WebKit1.

However, your difficulties with autocomplete are due to https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796734 and that’s fixed for GnuCash 3.3.

Gtk3’s appearance is much more easily customizable than was Gtk2’s, see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3 for guidance.

  11. Allow the tool bar buttons to be customised.

It would be very useful to be able to customise any number of buttons on the toolbar. These would obviously only invoke a feature that is already available through the menus.

  13. V2.6.18 & Mac Running High Sierra black screen problems

Quite a few times when you jump to a new screen, it simply goes to a black screen and you cannot recover the program without forcing a shut down, examples are when doing a reconciliation either jumping to an individual transaction or finishing the reconciliation off.

  14. Fix Major Budget Bugs in Windows

    Corresponding bugzilla item: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730764

The budget feature is extremely difficult to use in Windows due to horrific navigation performance and seconds-long response times.

Fixing this is my #1 request to improve GnuCash.

Declined because this is a bug report, not a feature request. Bug reports must be made at https://bugzilla.gnome.org, project Gnucash.

Had you monitored the user mailing list you’d already know that this has been reported already and that the work-around is to copy /usr/lib/libz.1.dylib to Gnucash.app/Contents/Resources/lib.

Gnucash 2.6.18, due for release this weekend, will include a newer version of libz in the Mac bundle that will fix the problem.

  17. Support Mac OS High Sierra

Although Mac OS High Sierra is not related yet, this Mac OS release is available for members of the Apple Beta Software Program.
However this Mac OS release is currently not supported by GnuCash: GnuCash crashes when started.

That’s not a feature request and this is not the place for bug reports or support requests. This matter has already been discussed on the GnuCash user list, where you’ll find a work-around.

  18. Do a proper translation to Spanish of "invoice". I find that it is translated as "Recibo",while it should be "Factura"

Perhaps I am confused, but I cannot find "new invoice" in Spanish but "new receipt" (nuevo recibo) in its place in the menu.
I had to change to the English version.
    Thanks for a terrific software!
