allow deletion of the corresponding double entry
If you delete a transaction you should have the option of deleting the corresponding double entry especially as gnu does not support multiple edit/delete.
As i had mistakes in an account and gnu doesn't support multiple edit i though it would better to delete an account and the transactions. But now I have a compunded the issue - all the double entries are now left in multiple places which i can't multiple select and delete - it's one by one (and by mouse not keyboard).
Without multiple edit or delete gnucash is a one way,…

Process Payment Facility - Fundamental Function Not Fully Developed
The way to receive a payment and apply it to a customer's invoice is a basic function that has not been fully developed in Gnucash.
Currently there is only one convoluted way to process a payment, and that is through the top menu only. One has to manually find the invoice and do several clicks. If you have multiple payments to receive, this is a rather sloth procedure.
I'd like to request the following features that would improve a very fundamental function:
1) In the 'Customers' window, place a button on the toolbar labeled 'Process Payment'. When a customer…

Sync desktop to the app
How to sync the desktop to the app: import structure and also the transactions.
First go to desktop and do save as and save as an xml file ex: Business.xml
Copy that file to the phone, for samsung android, my file explorer works very good.
Now go to the phone app and do settings/accounts/import xml file.
Nothing will happen.
Next go to the app and select Open and browse to the place the xml file was saved, select it and open. It will then say importing xml.
All structure and also all transactions will appear.
And that is how you…1 vote -
More options for the scheduled transaction scheduler please
I've run into two situations that the current transaction scheduler cannot handle.
One involves a monthly transaction for a lottery. The logic is that they draw prizes on let's say every second Monday of the month; but the payment is debited 4 days in advance. So I'd like to have an offset to these types of dates.
The second involves a payment that usually occurs on the 25th, unless it's in the weekend. In this case however, the payment gets moved to Friday if the 25th is a Saturday and to Monday if the 25th is a Sunday, in other…1 vote -
Advanced actioning of Scheduled Transactions
I get paid on the last day of the month (31st) and have a scheduled transaction to auto-create for that, as well as all of the transactions for the following month (1st-30th). This way, I allay have a view of how much " "disposable income" I have until I get paid again. In December, I always get paid on 19th-21st, but I now have to wait about 10 days until my scheduled transactions auto-create, so have no view of my disposable income, at a time when my spending can be quite fluid. I'd like to be able to go into…

Import Quicken Data Files
Although the documentation claims GnuCash can import QFX and / or QIF files, it cannot. I exported one Quicken account file (a brokerage firm account file containing stocks, cash "category" / "account" mutual funds and annuities. For the QFX import, a blank "Generic Import transaction matcher" window appears. Clicking the "OK" button does nothing. Clicking the close window gadget closes the window but nothing appears in the main window. No new account.
For QIF, paging through numerous panes makes it look like the import is happening until the final "QIF Import" pane after the "Book" options panel selections are…

When starting GnuCash, allow selection of any recently opened accounts
Gnucash opens with the last opened set of accounts. If then a new instance of Gnucash is started, you get a dialog complaining about lock, and gives option to Open anyway, Create new file, or Quit. It should also give option to open another set of accounts.

We Definitely Need to Fix the Font Size Selection to be More User Friendly.
We are not trying to launch rockets into space. We just want to change the font size. Let's get this much needed feature added. It has been requested by many people for years and it is still not there. Come on folks, this is a super basic feature. My eyes hurt trying to read the small font size.

create scheduled transaction option for week and day of month
I have a payment that comes in on the third Wednesday of each month, but there's no way to schedule that transaction accurately.
This would requre additional options on the frequency tab.
• in the "On the" drop down box for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th week
• check boxes for the day of the week (or an additional drop down box where one selects the day of the week) which is disabled until a week is chosen in the "On the" listI have seen this problem discussed in the mail list but without a solution.

Add way to attach Check Image to items; images remain hidden unless the cell is selected. Some report supporting.
Images could be left in flat file and stored by reference. Support for a good compression file type, setting and reduction to b/w might make them more managably small. An images supporting report can print each check below the item on the same page.

I suggest you provide a way to print the Transaction Linked Documents, available on the Tools menu.
I am the treasurer for a not-for-profit group. Our trustees review the books and records as part of our by-laws. Having a report of the Transaction Linked Documents would make it easier for the trustees to verify selected transactions.

OFX file import.
When selectinga file for OFX import, restrict the files listed to *.OFX (or *.QFX) rather than showing all the files in the selected directory - as in currently done with QIF imports where only *.QIF files are shown.

Highlight the current date in the calendar picker
When using the calendar picker, highlight the current date (not just the date selected) to prevent errors in entry. In this example (https://www.screencast.com/t/3LuQToD7) the current date is highlighted in yellow.

Add buttons to navigate between online price retrieval and security editor
Adding securitites and setting up online price retrieval can involve a lot of clicking to switch between the retrieval tool and the security editor. Please add a button "Retrieve prices now" to the window allowing to edit/create securities. And add a button in the retrieval tool "Edit Security" for existing ones when selecting the security.

Provide support for importing historic stock quotes
Quotes are now downloaded through the perl libary Finance::Quote. I would appreciate the ability to to download historic quote information (through Finance::QuoteHist, for example) so I can better see (for example) net worth accurately over time. Timespans could be typed or selectable via calendar widgets, and existing quote data be ignored or overwritten if data exists on any particular date.

Touch Interface GUI design
This may not be applicable yet, but it might be helpful to consider what interface elements might need to be adjusted for touch interfaces (iPad, Android, and similar). On those the resolution might be greater or smaller than an ordinary screen and/or multiple/changeable orientation. The register and other elements would need to handle options and data entry for non-precise ("fat-fingered") selections.
1 voteI’m sorry, but no, development on any of the tablet operating systems is a completely different topic. I.e. to have an app there, you would have to create a completely new application from scratch (in other programming languages etc.). This is a different project than the current desktop gnucash application.

Allow scrolling of tabs
Currently if I click on the horizontal arrows on the tab row it selects the next/previous tab. That means if I am on one end and want to go to the other end I have to cycle through all of them.
Better to have one or more of these options:
* Allow tab row to be extended to multiple rows so that multiple rows of tabs can be seen at one time (you often see this on preference dialogs)
* Resize the tabs if the number of tabs doesn't fit so that it does fit, even if…1 vote -
Allow user to assign accounts' colors in charts via GUI
The dynamic color assignment is either hit or miss. Might be very nice but after adding an account it might turn into terrible candy-fest.
Why not allow user to define fixed colors in charts via GUI? For instance, do it via Account settings (where tab color is being set) or within chart's settings itself - right next to accounts' selection.

Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) expense account type section
I'm actually surprised that this isn't a standard account type selection already setup. I'm also surprised that I can't just go and set up one! As someone who is used to a lot of flexibility (because I've transitioned large organizations from one accounting system to another) this was a rather big shock to find that this lacked this (to me) rather basic ability—or that this wasn't simply already there.
