Autofill - Stop it Entirely
I don't need it. It enters wrong amounts. Uses old misspelling. I can type fast enough that I don't need autofill. It actually takes me more time to have to go back and correct things or realize when reconciling that autofill went ahead and entered the wrong amount even when I entered the correct one. IT IS WORTHLESS.

Reports: show transactions related to the link instead of jumping to the account
In reports, hyperlinks are pointing towards accounts.
To allow for better analysis of a report, hyperlinks should return the only transactions related to the line of the report, like in a search window.1 vote -
Configuration files - to go to a database
With all the configuration files involved (GCM, CSS, saved reports, keyfile) it would be very nice to enclose those within the database itself.
Not only it would make it much cleaner to work with (backup, copy, move, etc.), but having multiple books - it could keep up us from the mess and plethora of not-correlated custom reports and settings, once opening a different set of books.

"Total (Period)" available for a default/generic currency
Within the ACCOUNTS main tree, there are multiple instances of available fields that are shown either within a source currency, or a default/generic one to choose from (Balance & Balance(USD)).
However, the one missing is those that pertain to periods, namely the "TOTAL (PERIOD)" is for a source currency only.
It would be great to have option for those to have a default/generic currency available as well.

Use a special icon for Placeholder Accounts.
It's really hard for me to keep track of what is properly set to be a Placeholder Account or not. Yes, I can make the checked box column, but that's EDITABLE so I could easily screw that up.
It would be great to have that column be LOCKED or have a separate icon to denote the account is a Placeholder, so that I don't accidentally change one that I don't want to. Then I could just right-click the column to change if the account is a Placeholder or not.

boldface and larger fonts
I tried following the directions in:
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3#Typefaces
It didn't work for me. (M1 Mini Ventura)
I guess I need more detailed information or a video.
Thanks for a great product!1 vote -
Make "Notes" more useful in a register by showing that one exists
In a register, in single line view, there is no indication of whether a particular row has a note that would appear in double line view. Suggestion is to show a small flag of some sort (maybe a little red triangle, a red N, or something similar) to indicate that the row has a note. Then, to be really spiffy, hovering over the row could show the note in a tooltip. (Woot!)

Improved CSV import matcher, based on key words (like ledger account number)
With the proprietary web based accounting software 'e-boekhouden.nl' (and probably others), you can make specific rules into what ledger an entry from an imported bank account has to be placed.
For instance, I can tell the import matcher to automatically put a payment with the number 4010 into the ledger with number 4010.
Or filter on specific words: 'Contribution' goes to the ledger '8100 Contributions'. And so on.With this approach, I have almost 100% certainty that a payment is associated with the right ledger.
With GnuCash (version 4.13) many payments go to the wrong ledger. Especially with a large…

export
Bonjour
Est il prévu d'exporter l'ensemble des éléments de comptabilité dans le format réclamé par le gouvernement Français: le format "fec" , ou bien existe t'il des outils de transformation du xml vers fec?

Sort top level accounts as Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income, Expense, No-Top-Level.
Traditional accounting sorts accounts in the order shown in my subject line. The Capital accounts, Assets, Liabilities and Equity sort at the top, in that order, and the income and expense accounts follow. This division supports the idea that income and expense close into capital at the end of the fiscal year.
I go nuts looking for Liabilities since it's at the bottom.
This sort order should appear in the accounts tab, the parent account field in the new account/edit account dialog, the transfer-account dropdown in the register, in import allocation, and anywhere else that the chart of accounts appears.

How can I make the Account Register's left panel show an Account Tree
How can I make the Account Register's left panel show an Account Tree, like the one in Quicken Check Register? Despite having plenty of space, GnuCash's Account tree is on a separate tab from the check register. Quicken's account tree is on the left panel, beside the Check Register.

Hide hidden accounts from the drop down list in the ledger.
It seems any hidden accounts should no longer be accessible for general use till they are unhidden. QuickBooks has a way to make account inactive. They then completely disappear for general use and only appear on old reports where they were previously used.

Add support for Vikram Sambat Calendar (Nepal)
In Nepal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal), the official calendar is Vikram Sambat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikram_Samvat) instead of Gregorian Calendar.
I am not able to fully embrace open source apps like GnuCash, Debitum (https://github.com/Marmo/debitum), etc. due to the lack of support for the official calendar.
I do have a python script to convert dates between these two calendars, but lack knowledge to contribute to those apps. The script is here: (https://github.com/pragyanone/adbs)
If open source apps like GnuCash provides support for Vikram Sambat, there will be a huge user base from Nepal.
I've submitted an enhancement in bugzilla too.…

Show totals on search results page
When conducting a search (Edit -> Find...) it would be very useful if the results would populate with a summary of the totals at the bottom of the screen (much like an account register does). I realize this information can be found by running a transaction report, but it sure would be quick and easy if a summary appeared in the Search Results transactions window. Currently using Gnucash 4.11 built on Ubuntu 22.04. Thanks to all the contributors!

More options for the scheduled transaction scheduler please
I've run into two situations that the current transaction scheduler cannot handle.
One involves a monthly transaction for a lottery. The logic is that they draw prizes on let's say every second Monday of the month; but the payment is debited 4 days in advance. So I'd like to have an offset to these types of dates.
The second involves a payment that usually occurs on the 25th, unless it's in the weekend. In this case however, the payment gets moved to Friday if the 25th is a Saturday and to Monday if the 25th is a Sunday, in other…1 vote -
Allow user to assign accounts' colors in charts via GUI
The dynamic color assignment is either hit or miss. Might be very nice but after adding an account it might turn into terrible candy-fest.
Why not allow user to define fixed colors in charts via GUI? For instance, do it via Account settings (where tab color is being set) or within chart's settings itself - right next to accounts' selection.

enable sorting of transactions in Register, based on whether or not they've been cleared/reconciled
If there's a list of transactions in a register in which many are not cleared, many are cleared, and many are fully-reconciled, it's a bit difficult to spot the y's, n's, and c's. It would be great if there was some sort of conditional formatting that would apply different colors or "fill shades" to y's, c's and n's, or possibly to the whole transaction.
If not, then it would still be good to have a way to sort the "RL" column so that all the y's are grouped together, all the n's are grouped, and all the c's are grouped.…

Setting up gnucash in the cloud
Hello,
I wanted to know what should be done to serve gnucash as a cloud application so it can be used by multiple end users un multiple countries who work on the same project (same accounting) ?
Or could it be a simple remote SQL database on a server to which the desktop apps could connect to as their backend ? Is that possible ? Can an sql database allow multiple simultanious connections ?
I guess the chronology issue in real time collaboration should be addressed, but I don't really know how. I have some programming knowledge (mainly web +…1 vote
