Add the ability to set account as dormant, so that it doesn't show in accounts list
An example would be a bank account that has been emptied, cannot be deleted as it includes transactions

I see your point.
But that means multiple states for accounts. One hidden, one closed (displayed but inactive), normal accounts etc etc.
Maybe it would be better to just have them all hidden, with the possibility to view hidden accounts. But this would add also clutter to the workflow so we will have to see if it is worth it.

Think about a bank account used in the past and now closed: must stay in the account tree but should be 'greyed out'.
My reason is another: useful mobile accounts are a few of the entire set as no one has the need to record mortgage or taxes or paychecks while on the go. This feature would unclutter the account list thus speeding up the insertion of a new transaction!

We could make this happen, so we will consider it.
But I'm curious, what do you mean by an account that has been emptied, but still includes transactions?
