GnuCash needs to be more simple, easy, beautiful, portable as...
There are enough and more Financial Accounting softwares available today both commercial and open source.
So the only reason that my friends and me use GnuCash is because its a Personal Finance Manager BUT GnuCash will have an edge only if it Stands out as a Personal Finance solution that could be used by any lay person. Even though GnuCash claims to be easy to use Its still not as easy as the Software Personal Finances Pro.
I wish GnuCash was as simple, easy, beautiful, and portable as the software Personal Finances Pro which I had been using for quite some time. Everything is so well organized, The concept of managing your finances is so easy to understand as everything is transaction based. The interface is easy to use and easy to recognize and relate to because of the big colorful Icons etc to denote and many elements in the system. Even the reports are so beautiful and rich with information.
I thus request the GnuCash developers to please try the trial version (that comes with a demo database) which will explain what i am trying to express. If GnuCash imbibes some of PF Pro's outstanding Features, It is definitely going to become a household software all over the world.
Thanks for the feedback. However, this request is just too unspecific and goes away from gnucash’s goals too much, so we can just decline it. Please use this forum for specific new features, not for requests like “please make you software look like competitor xy”.

So I guess I am not the only one who feels that GnuCash needs a Makeover.
Unfortunately Its sad that the developers don't feel the same and have thus declined this suggestion.

Here's a (simple)? specific request to make things a bit brighter, cheerful, pretty, and simpler [to find things]. What if we could colorize the accounts listed in the account hierarchy? We could pick any color, like red, green, blue, or some such color in that range to hi-lite the names on those accounts we most often review. I absolutely love the program, but I admit, it's a bit drab until I look inside those registers (which I think are customizable).

Thanks for your quick and prompt reply...
Sorry about being unspecific... there is no way I meant that GnuCash look like a Competitor xy.
Actually I have been checking out a lot of open source options and none came as good as GnuCash. But when I worked with PF Pro i was impressed with the ease of use, functionality and interface design.
(You can see the screenshots here http://www.financessoftware.com/screenshots.html) and as I thought that it would be easier for you understand what i was requesting if you saw it yourself instead of me writing detailed requests I gave the example of PF Pro.Its always good to know what advantages other competitors have in their products so that one could always have something to improve on (Esp when there is scope for improvement). Growth and Evolution is a must for any software to grow. Best example is the growth of Mozilla Firefox it would never have become so popular had it not evolved from what it was many years back...
Anyway it was only a suggestion... nothing to get offended about...
Thanks once again.
