An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedDid you try to leave open the account windows and just close the overall gnucash window? All accounts that were open last time will then be restored on next opening.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedIn SVN-Trunk version (and in fact in all versions since version 2.4.3), there's a button Preferences -> Business -> Extra buttons. Does that meet your suggestion?

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedNote: It is not sufficient to add the HKTUE job. Instead, the list of scheduled online transactions needs to be queried, displayed, edited, deleted, i.e. a full CRUD (Create, Update, Delete) implementation for the scheduled online transactions. The HKTUE is only the "Create" part, but this is not sufficient.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI'm afraid this won't be implemented simply because the User Interface for more than one date is most likely too confusing for the average user...

Gnucash currently provides Experimental Balance and Income Statement (= Profit & Loss) reports that support displaying multiple columns.
They are still experimental because of some glitches with price calculations case of multi-currency or stock market scenarios. If you don’t have those, the experimental reports probably will give you what you need.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedHave you tried the "Income/Expenses" -> "Income barchart" (or "expense barchart", or "Income/Expense barchart") report? That one shows multiple periods. Also, those reports have the option under "Properties" -> "Display" -> "Show Table" which will display the numbers that are shown in the diagram also as numbers (useful for exporting). Does that meet your requirements? If not, what else would you like to see? Please describe this a bit more in detail.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedA prediction of the income/expense due to the scheduled transactions is available as the text report "Future Scheduled Transactions". So in principle your request can already be done. What else would you like to see instead of this already available text report? Please explain and adapt your feature title accordingly. Thanks.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedCan you please add some explanation as for what exactly should be forecasted? Does that mean you have specified a budget, or the program should implicitly calculate a budget for you and compare this with a forecast? Or how should the program guess what is going on in the future?

Unfortunately the code implementing this feature eventually never made it into the official releases. So I’m reopening this feature request.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThe patch from bug#310567 was indeed buggy and not the correct approach. But instead the changes in SVN r20294 and r20306 implement the correct behaviour (for the invoice window) and "just" need to be copied over to the normal account register window.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedDo you mean you would like to move transactions up and down? We've already implent that for invoices, so it should be possible in the normal accounts as well.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commented[Somebody gave the following description of the use case:] In the real world, mom, pop and the kids all use the same account on the same computer. Might not be very security conscious, but that's the way it is. A simple password feature might not defeat 1337 hackers, but it would be more than enough to discourage casual snooping by curious fellow users.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedIn http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ there is some discussion of that question.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThen your request is probably what is available when using a "commodity" (stock shares or currency) account, where you have price and pieces for that commodity.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedIsn't this what the "inventory" feature request is about? http://gnucash.uservoice.com/forums/101223-feature-request/suggestions/1540143-inventory-system-mini-inventory-?ref=title

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedHave you experimented with the various view modes? Single-line vs. Split view. I thought this is already what you need. If not, please explain how the existing split view is not sufficient for you.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedWell, I'm a bit hesitating to allow more symbolic dates because the current list of possible date selections is already quite long. Can you elaborate a bit on your use case, i.e., on the sort of "forward report" you want to generate?
We've received proposals to add plenty of other symbolic dates in the past, but IMHO the dropdown box shouldn't contain more than, say, 8 entries, so we declined quite a few of those proposals. Your idea with "today + x" does make sense, though.

provide per-transaction cancel of autofill, with ESC, initial backspace, or anything else that works
65 votesAn error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThe proposed feature would be a useful enhancement, indeed.
Currently, you can work around this issue by first entering the destination account and entering the description in a second step. The auto-completion of the destination account will not trigger anymore if there is already something in that field. Nevertheless I agree there is still room for improvement.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThe required changes to get the "clicking on filename, then letting gnucash launch and do xy" differ vastly from OS to OS. Apparently there are no clear priorities for which one this should be done first - all OS were asked for, so I deleted those comments as they didn't increase our information here.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedPlease explain a bit more what you are suggesting here: What can you do in GnuCash right now? What would you like to do instead, i.e. in what dialog window do you want to see another possibility to click or enter or whatever, and what exactly? Thanks.

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedThe issue for the developers here is that it isn't clear at all where in the program the user is set for "accrual accounting" rather than "cash accounting". From my understanding, the choice for one or the other just results in the way the chart of accounts is set up by the user. Do you suggest the program should enable the user to switch from one chart of accounts to another?

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedWhat do you mean by a filter "on the account tree"? What should the filtering do - should it hide inactive accounts? I'm asking because I don't understand what it means to filter the "account tree" by time periods.
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commented(Also note that there seem to have been created some fake users to vote this proposal higher, which we will simply block and ignore.)
An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI don't understand your proposed feature here. There is a "Filter By..." setting in the account register window, where you can select a date range to restrict the shown transactions. What feature do you expect instead?
(Actually, I don't think this matters much for performance reason, or do you experience performance problems? If yes, on which operating system?)

An error occurred while saving the comment Admincstim (Core Developer, GnuCash) commentedI'm afraid we cannot do much about this. There are so many different banks on this world and in the various contries. The gnucash developers can only set up a small subset of those, but there will always be some other banks that have non-standard online banking interfaces, and for those we can't offer any access anyway.
Nevertheless the documentation and the explanations to the user during the setup phase can be improved.
Do you mean the new register design in the 2.5.2 version, or what is your comparison when you say "the default (old) behaviour" and some "new behaviour"?
