Reports export protection
Many times we need to exchange files with accountants / auditors especially if they are not in house. For that the report export to HTML is a good option ... but if we can export the report to PDF with a password protection then it would be even great ... no need for any encryption ... GNUCASH can provide export to PDF option with password protection as this is a built in feature of PDF ...
I know that GNUCASH developers do not want to focus on SECURITY but this is a feature request and security is built in facility via API ...
Also, we can use Javascript to store the hashed password in the export HTML file and then use Javascript to check the same ...
So, with a very small effort we can also protect the HTML report export files ...
I’m afraid your use case is not general enough to be implemented in our software. There is HTML export and PDF export, but your idea to have that exported file added with a password protection will not be solved within our software. Sorry.

But still html code can be obfuscated along with right click, context menu etc. and print disabled too ...
good example is at htmlobfuscator.com

Though HTML report password protection would be there just for the sake of being there as users can do view source on the file ... but then thats for the techies ...
i still think PDF export and generated pdf to be password protected is best way forward for at least starting to give what ppl. have been demanding for the last many years ... SECURITY ... and more of it ... and more is not always enough when it comes to SECURITY ...
