Doubleclick on Placeholder account should open tree not account tab
If a placeholder account is double-clicked in the account tree view, the tree should open rather than opening the placeholder account.
I have chosen to change the behaviour of all accounts with children: double clicking that account to show/hide its children seems to be the most frequent use case.
You can still open the account itself by using the menu option for that (also available via right-click context menu)

This doesn't work for me in version 3.0.
If I doubleclick on a top level account, the account itself opens, rather than the tree being expanded. Note that it would also be good to allow this for any links to placeholder accounts, e.g. from reports.
Concerning the issue Michal raised: This should not interfere as long as the feature is restricted to placeholder accounts. Placeholder accounts rarely have individual bookings (that is, only from the time before they were marked as placeholder).
Could someone confirm that this feature is not working? Maybe it is just me being too stupid :)

I've just updated to 2.6 and this is definitely not my use case. I have many accounts where the children are used for more specific categories (in particular, but not only, for expenses) and the parent is used as a catchall for uncategorized stuff. I'm afraid I will have to add explicit 'other' child everywhere now :-(

Willynux: it seems I forgot to mention this: the change will appear in the next major gnucash release, which in this case will be 2.6. This release is currently planned for somewhere around November of this year, depending on the amount of bugs that will appear in the beta testing.

ok so this is a great idea and it shows "COMPLETED" next to the answer. Now what do I have to do to enjoy this feature as well?

Even better! I was trying to keep the change mininmal invasive, but your extension fits my needs and habits.
When can we expect a release?

I just reduced my votes to increase votes of the "Tree view" feature request, which would make this one obsolete.
But, not knowing if that will ever be implemented, I'll keep one here since it should be easy to implement and would be an improvement at least.
