There is no new feature to add in this request. It appears to be a user support question instead, which has been answered.

From what I can tell, notes are only displayed as a row. A row is not the same thing as a column. From an input and display perspective, it would be easier to work with notes if they were displayed between the transaction description and the transfer columns.

There's a "notes" field if you activate the menu item View -> Double-Line. Additionally, if you select the view mode View -> "Auto-Split Ledger" or "Transaction Journal", each split line has an additional "memo" column. Is any of those the place you're looking for?

The memo column appears on an illustration in the tutorial guide about registers, but I cannot find an option on my installation (2.4.7) that allows me to include it in my register display
